September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, which is an important month to shine the light on a very important issue, as prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in men and the second-leading cause of cancer death in men. It is also the month that serves as Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, which is a month that serves as Prostate Cancer Awareness Month (behind only lung cancer).

Benign prostatic hyperplasia, sometimes known as an enlarged prostate or BPH, is extremely prevalent among men of advanced age. It indicates that there is no cancer present in your prostate despite its enlarged size. Medication that can assist reduce the size of the prostate or relax the muscles in the area of the prostate can be used to treat BPH and relieve its symptoms. Surgery is another option that may be suggested to help reduce the size of the prostate and improve urine flow. Cancer of the prostate might develop if treatment is not received. Cancer of the prostate is extremely prevalent in Filipino men.

Your doctor will review your medical history and conduct a physical exam on your prostate in order to look for any abnormalities. This will help determine whether or not the symptoms you are experiencing are due to cancer of the prostate. If your primary care physician suspects that you may have cancer, you will be referred to a urologist for a prostate biopsy. The treatment for prostate cancer is contingent not only on the location of the cancer and whether or not it has progressed to other parts of the body, but also on other factors such as the patient’s age and their general condition of health.

Men should begin by having an in-depth chat with their urologist, as this is the first and most critical step. Ask your urologist questions during your visit, and make sure to inquire about the treatment option that will benefit you the most as well as any potential negative outcomes associated with it.
